Danette Fleishman

Board Member

Danette Fleishman serves on the Board of Directors for the Josh Pallotta Fund and brings more than 18 years of federal, military, and civilian experience in leadership, financial management, acquisition, operations, and public service. Danette currently works for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS), U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), within the Immigration Records and Identity Services (IRIS), Identity and Information Management Division (IIMD), where she serves as a Section Chief. In this leadership role, she supports budget and acquisition management and oversees programs and operations that contribute to the division’s mission and organizational priorities. Prior to joining IRIS/IIMD, Danette served within USCIS Service Center Operations (SCOPS) at the Vermont Service Center as a Supervisory Operations Support Specialist (SOSS) overseeing budget, purchasing, contracting, and operational support functions within the Human Resources and Budget portfolio. She previously served as an Immigration Services Analyst II (ISA2) in the Quality and Training Unit and has held financial and program management positions across DHS, including experience with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and USCIS. Danette began her public-service career when she enlisted in the United States Army in 2006. During eight years of military service—four years active duty and four years in the Individual Ready Reserve—she served stateside and overseas, including as a Noncommissioned Officer in Charge (NCOIC) supporting property accountability, supply operations, and garrison facilities. Her responsibilities included managing organizational resources and ensuring compliance with Department of Defense policies and procedures. Her military awards include the Army Commendation Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Overseas Service Ribbon, and Army Service Ribbon. Following her military service, Danette continued her education, earning an associate degree in Business Management and Accounting, along with multiple professional certifications. Outside of her federal career, Danette is deeply committed to veteran advocacy. She volunteers with the Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) as a Warrior Advocate Leader (WAL) representing Vermont. In this role, she regularly reviews and advocates for legislative priorities affecting veterans and their families and meets with Senators, Members of Congress, and congressional staff throughout New England. She also travels to Washington, D.C., to help lead advocacy efforts and discussions with congressional officials on issues affecting the veteran community. Danette is especially passionate about mental health and suicide prevention, financial security, strengthening support for veterans and their families, and ensuring veterans have a meaningful voice in the policies that affect their lives. Danette resides in Vermont and is proud to bring her experience as a military veteran, federal leader, and grassroots advocate to the Josh Pallotta Fund Board of Directors.
